Beautiful bells at the fort.jpg

BEAUTIFUL BELLS AT THE FORT - 1

The bells enhanced the majesty and joy of the Mehrangarh Fort. We felt so much joy from the ringing bells that we used Celtic symbols of joy to create the forts majestic structure, while the bell’s sound patterns sit inside its walls.

CAMILLA

This jacquard is a celebration of the children of the village of Bhenswara. Their voices run across the canvas like they ran chasing us screaming “Camilla”. We’ll never forget their voices

BOY SINGING

We heard a young boy singing one of the most amazing songs we have heard. He sang as the evening drew in, looking up to the sky. The black background represents the day turning to night. The sound patterns of his beautiful voice are almost like the stars he was searching for while singing his little heart out

Dancing Gypsies in udaipur

DANCING GYPSIES IN UDAIPUR

As the local girls danced like gypsies in their beautiful folk dresses, we were mesmerised by their movement and colour. The music’s sound patterns swirl upon the canvas like the dancers themselves, with us the spectators watching from the bottom right corner.

PRAYERS AT THE BIRLA TEMPLE

PRAYERS AT THE BIRLA TEMPLE

The prayers at the Birla Temple dug deep into your soul.

The sound patterns create the ebb and flow of the bells and prayer chanting above the deepness of the maroon backdrop.

Snake Music Leaving the Amber Fort.jpg

SNAKE MUSIC LEAVING THE AMBER FORT

We wanted to make the sound patterns of the street music feel like the instruments themselves playing to you on the canvas. The simple colour tone resembles the child like innocence and simplicity of the music we heard that day.

Bell and drums.jpg

BELLS AND DRUMS AT MEHRANGARH FORT

Here the playful sound patterns bounce around the canvas. We wanted to recreate the fast rhythms and tones of the bells and drums. The music felt like a party, so we painted and knitted one.

Snake Music Leaving .jpg

SNAKE MUSIC LEAVING THE AMBER FORT

Fast flutes and drums played in chaotic unison, enveloping the walls of the Amber Fort as we left. They reminded us of snakes being charmed and made to dance really fast! The painting portrays the sound patterns of the crazy snake music and its slithery flow.

Street Festival

STREET FESTIVAL

The sound patterns of the street drums recreate the scene that day at the festival. People dancing on the streets and drums blaring, all within the beautiful structure of Jaipur. The solid straight lines represent the buildings, adorned by the sound patterns of the chaos of the street party.

INDIAN SONG

The flute flew over the drums at the Amber Fortre JAIPUR AND BOUNCED OFF THE WALLS. THIS JACQUARD presents the stark, naked and seductive tones of the Indian song that sucked us in and blew us away.
